Yuzuru even posts a picture of him jumping into the river online, causing him to get suspended for a week. Yuzuru lies to Ishida, telling him that she is Shōko's "boyfriend". Shōya Ishida: At first, Yuzuru disliked Ishida, thinking that he was only trying to visit Shōko to amuse himself because she was deaf.Her androgynous appearance makes her get mistaken for a boy, a trait she used to make believe she was her older sister's boyfriend, in order to keep her safe. She wears her black hair in a short cut of which the longest part of her ends at the nape of her neck, and then goes back up to the front locks that end on the bridge of the nose. Yuzuru is a rather short girl for her age with a small build and fair skin. Yuzuru is very open to people whom she knows, especially around Ishida once she got to know him better. However, upon earning Yuzuru’s trust, her personality will change into that of a kind, sweet, and caring person.
Despite never meeting Ishida before, she does whatever she can to keep him away from her sister, Shōko. Yuzuru seems to be the type of person who holds grudges. However, about the time that Shoya had begun dating Shoko, and after Shoya had recovered from his fall from the third story balcony, Yuzuru was convinced to return to school.Īt first glance, Yuzuru appears to be overprotective, blunt, straightforward, and cold towards people whom she dislikes or finds suspicious, which is shown during her first meeting with Shōya Ishida. Later, it is shown that Yuzuru did this so as to show the gruesome pictures to Shoko, in an effort to dissuade her from committing suicide. Even then, Yuzuru's photography took a uneasy twist, in that she began only taking pictures of dead animals or dead insects. She became somewhat depressed, and only had interest in her photography endeavors. Yuzuru, for a time, dropped out of middle school for whatever reason. Yuzuru, through the years, became an excellent self-taught photographer, and was able to win a prize and award in a photography contest that was sponsored by the local newspaper. She was fascinated with a camera and how it worked.
